P.A.N.S. Top Cooks (Ages 14-18)
P.A.N.S. (Practical, Achievable, Nutritious, and Safe practices in the kitchen) is DSA's NEW Kitchen Skills & Nutrition Classes for individuals who have Down syndrome. Class goals: Foster an interest in cooking, Provide the necessary training and resources to allow tweens, teens, and adults with Down syndrome to learn to safely and independently cook at home, & Nurture a general appreciation for and understanding of nutrition through cooking classes that begin with core skills.
NEW for this "Top Cooks" P.A.N.S. Session:
Members will “draw knives” to work in teams
Each team will “draw knives” to reveal the ingredients they will use to prepare a recipe
Recipes for this session will include Pasta Medley, Wild Nachos, Texas Toast & Toppings, Scrambled Eggs with Extras
Each class in the session will declare a “Top Cook” winning team
DSA staff and special guests will judge based on creativity, Practical, Achievable, Safe, and Nutritious practices, and flavor
